UGC Regulations on Anti-ragging

Events

The Anti Ragging Review Committee in coordination with IQAC, Bioethics Unit and Student’s Council of Father Muller Medical College organized various activities in order to observe the ANTI-RAGGING DAY 2023 which is scheduled on 12 th August of every year.

Essay Writing competition was organised on 7 th August 2023 on the theme “Say no to ragging – Yes to joyful campus”. Totally 20 participants were participated from all the colleges under FMCI. Ms. Ashwathi Padmanabhan of FMMC secured 1 st prize, Ms. Elaine Aby of FMCN won 2 nd prize and Ms. Lareena Quadros of FMNC, Thumbay won the 3 rd prize. Dr Karen Castellino of Forensic Medicine, Dr Cristol Moras of Pathology and Dr Anissa Thomas of Community Medicine were the Judges for the competition.

Guest lecture was organised on 11 th August 2023 in DM hall, FMMC. Mr. Prajwal Preston Dsouza, Advocate, District Court, Mangalore delivered a lecture on effects of ragging on individuals, various guidelines on anti-ragging policies given by UGC and various court judgements in ragging cases. The first-year students of FMMC, AHS and BPT and faculty members attended this program. Dr Nagesh KR, Convener of Anti Ragging Review Committee welcomed the gathering. Dr Hareesh Gouda, Coordinator of IQAC delivered the vote of thanks.

Role play was organised on 11 th August 2023 in DM hall after the guest lecture. The members of student council along with other students performed the act of ragging and its effect on the life of a student and their parents was well demonstrated.
